Elwanda Salmons Smith, 63 of Hamlin, WV passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. She was born June 25, 1952 a daughter of Evah Duncan Salmons and the late Russell Salmons.
She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church, past president of Lincoln Genealogy Society, past member of Hamlin Lions Club, past worthy matron of Hamlin Chapter 106 Order of Eastern Star, past member of the Ladies Club of Valley Huntington, Scottish Rite, she loved quilting, an avid reader, and worked at the Hamlin Library for 25 years.
Elwanda was the loving wife of William (Bill) Smith, and mother to Mary K. Page (James); she leaves behind her 3 granddaughters, Evahlyn, Carrissa, and Dixie Page who she loved dearly, they were the light of her life; also her sisters Brenda Chaffin (James Darrell), and Deanna Clayton (Billy); and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Open Door Bible Church, Hamlin, WV with Ron Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Sycamore Cemetery, Hurricane, WV.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Friday at the church. Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV is in charge of arrangements.
