Emma Lucille Skeens, 88, of West Hamlin, WV went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday August 2, 2020 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a short illness. She was a loving mother, wonderful grandmother, adored by all who knew her, and caregiver to many. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and leaves behind many brothers and sisters in Christ there. She was preceded in death by her parents: Everett and Ethel Hager; son, Dennis Skeens; four brothers, Enoch “Sonnyboy” Hager, Everett “Bug” Hager, Keith Hager, and Artis Sias; four sisters, Virginia Hill, Betty Long, Hester Adkins, and Nona Smith; and one great granddaughter, Torri Smith.
She is survived by: her son, Darrell (Karen) Skeens; three granddaughters, Tara Baker, Jaime (Jason) Jarrett, and Chastity Skeens; four great granddaughters, Haley Baker, Holly Baker, Jaida Jarrett, and Julieanna Jarrett; two brothers, Franklin (Beulah) Hager and Watson (Jane) Hager; one sister-in-law, Minnie Hager; a multitude of nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and neighbors.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the Staff of Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House and Cabell Huntington Hospital Oncology Unit for the excellent care they provided.
Funeral service will be 2:00pm Wednesday August 5, 2020 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Jeff Mosteller and Steve Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery, Branchland, WV. A visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Condolences can be left at www.handleyfh.com.
