Erman Ray Moore Sr.

Erman Ray Moore Sr., 84, of Wharton, WV passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Valley Center, Charleston, WV.

He was born November 29, 1938 and was a son of Sheridan and Ida Bell Moore.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Opal Ann Moore; siblings, Leo Moore, Arnold “Smokey” Moore, Lorraine Saunders, Doris Kinder, Sheridan Jr. (stillborn) and Ida Ruth McComas.

He was a 1957 graduate of Man High School and member of Man High School Sports Hall of Fame.  He coached little league baseball for many years.  He was a retired coal miner and attended Barrett Church of the Nazarene. 

He is survived by his children, Erman (Robin) Moore of Wharton, Vickie (Greg) Niemec of Wharton, and Stephen (Molly) Moore of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Brandy (David) Raines of Gordon, Jennifer (Steve) Tackett of Wharton, David (Danielle) Moore of Wharton, Brittany (Bobby) Dixon of Wharton, Daniel (Heather) Moore of Wharton, Victor (Ashley) Niemec of Yawkey, and Luke Moore of Marion, NC; 17 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with visitation one hour prior to the service.
