Foncie Loretta Mooney

Foncie Loretta Mooney was born on September 23, 1928, and went to her heavenly home on April 13, 2024 following a long battle with dementia.  Foncie lived in Racine WV and was a resident at Meadow Brook Assisted Living in Camp Creek for the past three years.  

She was proceeded in death by her first husband, Ritchie Lutsy, infant son Richard Lee Lutsy, her second husband Hansford “Hank” Mooney, son Ronnie “Moonpie” Mooney, parents Carrie and Sherman Justice, four brothers and 6 sisters.  

She is survived by her children Joyce Tuemler (Paul) of Scott Depot, Nancy Smith (Steve) of Peytona, Randy Mooney (Sue) of Dunmore, and daughter in law, Vickie Mooney of Seth.  Grandchildren James Tuemler (Kim) of Charleston SC, Craig Tuemler (Niki) of Scott Depot, Christy Donohue (Joe) of Peytona, Chris Smith (Michelle) of Inwood, Stephen Smith (Jennifer) of Charleston, Summer Burford of Seth, and Justin Mooney (Felicia) of Hurricane.  Twenty-two great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Foncie was a faithful and dedicated Christian.  She was a member of Mahone Chapel Church in Ashford.  She loved singing in the choir and enjoyed making Easter Eggs for the community every year.  

Foncie worked and retired from Magic Mart/Hecks in Danville as the Head Cashier.  

She was a loving mother, grandmother and Monk Monk.  Her family was the most important thing to her.   She loved family gatherings especially Christmas Eve where she would make punch with her grandchildren and carried the tradition down to her great grandchildren.   

Service will be at Handley Funeral Home in Danville on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Paul Tuemler officiating.  Friends may visit 1 hour before.  Burial will be at Barker Cemetery in Ashford with Pastor Randel Kinder officiating.
