Garnett Vance

     Garnett Vance, 91, of Branchland, WV went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 28, 2024 at his home.  He was born August 31, 1932 in Branchland, WV.  A son of the late John and Erie Vance.  He was a member of the McClarity Baptist Church for 44 years. He retired from the State Road after 33 years.

     He was preceded in death by children Betty Lou, Joyce Jane and John Russell. 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years Phyllis A. Vance; one son, Alex Ray Vance; three daughters, Brenda Briengar, Mittie Cende (Paul), Mona (Randy) Kilpatrick; a very close friend Janice Chaney; sister-in-law, Maxine Ratcliff; brother-in-law, Linville Ferguson; 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who he loved dearly.

     Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 1, 2024 at 1:00pm at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Johnny Courts and David Vance officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Branchland, WV.
