George Eugene Elkins, 62, of Ravenswood, WV formerly of Ridgeview passed away on June 15, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 9, 1951 in Madison, WV and was a son of the late George and Nancy Holstein Elkins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jewell Loggins; and brother, Timothy Elkins.
He was a retired coal miner from Kanawha Coal Company. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. and was a member of the Morning Star House of Prayer. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Billups Elkins; son, Sonnie (Teresa) Elkins of Ravenswood; daughters, Angela (Craig) O’Connell of Ravenswood and Jeri Elkins of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Derick Elkins, Danielle Lester, Brittany and Brooke O’Connell, Autumn, Annaka and Brandon O’Connell and Dakota Elkins; great-grandchild, Jasmin Schultz; sisters, Charlotte Halstead, Kay Holstein and Jackie Elkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at Morning Star House of Prayer, Ridgeview with Stevie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Barker Cemetery, Ashford with military rites provided by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, WV.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
