George Alfred Light

George Alfred Light, 70, of Danville, WV, made his journey home with his loving Savior on October 17, 2024 after a long illness. 

He was a 1972 graduate of Sharples High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy for 2 years. 

George retired from the coal industry where he worked for 30 years. After retirement, he continued to work for MSHA for 9 years. 

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, for 43 years, Susie Light; his parents, Ed and Irene Light; and sister, Ann Smith.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory are his daughter, Brandy Kosela of Danville, WV; precious grandsons, whom he loved and cherished, Bailey Kosela and Colin Light of Danville, WV; brothers Larry (Peggy) Light of Chapmanville, WV, Timmy (Lorene) Light of Clothier, WV, Randy (Lisa) Light of Chapmanville, WV, and Rick Light of Bridgeport, WV; sisters Linda (David) Rowland of Noblesville, IN, Judy Smith of Clothier, WV, Kris (Diddy) Podunavac of Chapmanville, WV, Sandy (Brian) Cook of Logan, WV; sister-in-law Delita Lybrand of High Point, NC; brother-in-law Mark Parsley of Columbus, GA. George is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2pm at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Edsel Aleshire and Joe Lane officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
