George Preston Smith 83 of Julian, WV passed away July 18, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston,WV.
He was a member of the Lory Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Caldona Meadows Smith, six brothers and a son David Bowman.
The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7. In a world full of pain and suffering he gave love and kindness with a big smile.
He is survived by his wife; Martha Smith, a son; Steve (Teresa) Smith of Julian, daughters; Dreama (Doug) Green, of Uneeda, and Vicky (Jr.) Long of Julian, grandchildren; Kelly Fransisco, Kristy Bays, Travis Long, Liza Long, Jeremy Green, Matthew Green, Preston Smith, Hannah Mynes and Celia Smith, fourteen great grandchildren, sisters; Blanche Hood of Ohio, Virginia McCormick of Julian, and Gloria Dotson of WV, brothers; Robert Smith of Wharton and James Smith of Julian.
He leaves behind a host of family and friends that knew he loved them. We truly blessed to be a part of his life.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 Lory Baptist Church with Pastor Garry Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery, Julian with military graveside rites by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, WV.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Handley Funeral Home, Danville,WV.
