Gerald Harmon Sitton

Gerald (Gerry) Harmon Sitton was born Jan. 25, 1942 and passed away Dec. 11, 2023 at Boone Memorial Hospital due to a short illness.

He was a 1960 graduated of Van High School and was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lewis and Naomi (Skeens) Sitton. He was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Brown Branch Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent.

He left behind his wife Barbara Sitton; one sister and brother in law Donna and Bill Maynard of Uneeda; one stepson Eric Hayhurst of Prenter; five grandchildren, Amber Hayhurst of Uneeda, Ashley (Dillon) Nida of Hamlin, Johnathon (Lindsey) Hayhurst of Prenter, Cody (Cheyanne) Hayhurst of Prenter and Justin (Mckayla) Hayhurst of Prenter; seven great grandchildren and a niece, a nephew and his church family he loved dearly.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Rev. Phil Rowe and Roger Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville, WV.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
