Gloria Mae Vance-Gabbert-Bartley has been welcomed into her Heavenly home to be with her mother, Edith Vance-Crabtree; her father, Lloyd Vance; and her sister, Wilma Vance-Puckett-Coates; and daughter-in-law, Jessica L. Cole-Gabbert after a long and hard fought battle with the complications caused by diabetes.
Gloria enjoyed music, crafting, movies and spending time with her family. Before getting married, she worked for the AFL-CIO as a secretary. Later, Gloria dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom to her two sons.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda (Bill) Collins; her sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Vance; her beloved grandson, Alexander Vance of Rock Hill, SC; her youngest son, Samuel Wayne Gabbert Jr. of Logan, WV; as well as, a very special niece, Maria Kay Puckett-West that she thought of and loved as her daughter; and three nephews and their children.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Bernard Lee Toppings and Moses Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill. Honorary pallbearer will be Alexander Sebastin Vance with active pallbearers, Kevin Vance, Samuel Gabbert Jr., Eddie Puckett, Raymond West, Christopher West and Garry Cole.
