Harley Steven “Steve” Justice, 63, of West Madison, West Virginia, formerly of Gordon, West Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston West Virginia on August 27, 2018 after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was a 1974 graduate of Van Jr/Sr High School and he continued to be an avid fan and supporter of Van Bulldog athletics throughout his life. He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Associated Coal and was a member of the UMWA local 781. He was also employed by the Boone County Ambulance Authority as a dispatcher and EMT for more than 10 years. He was a lifetime member of the Van Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Wharton-Barrett Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active Amateur Radio Technician (KE8BEE). He loved NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt and he loved the West Virginia Mountaineers. He enjoyed ATV riding on the Hatfield and McCoy Trail System.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Eliza Justice; his in-laws, Dan and Arbutus Mynes; and his brother-in-law Ricky White.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Alice Mynes Justice; his daughter who was his pride and joy, Jennifer Justice Keeney, her husband Floyd and two grandpuppies, Chief Grover and Code Blue Keeney all of Belle, WV; one sister, Kathy Justice White of Gordon, WV; one brother, Bryan (Shawn) of Washington Heights, WV; sisters-in law, Kidi Marcum (Dave) of Big Ugly, WV, Daneen Kinder (Michael) of Greenview, WV, Tina Sessions (Johnny) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lou Ann Bolyard (Marty) of Clothier, WV and Myla Davis (Joe) of Clothier, WV, brothers-in law, Barry Mynes (Angie) of Lake, WV and Byron Mynes (Marilyn) of Jacksonville, NC; his aunts, Shirley Justice of Wharton, WV, Christine Yeager of Fairborn, OH, Alma Jeffrey (Carl) of Clarkston, MI, and Margaret Parsons of Drawdy, WV; and his two best friends, John Estep and Richard Smith. Steve is also survived by a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr H. James Stanton, the staff of the CPICU at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department and the staff of the Hubbard Hospice House.
Funeral services will be will be held at 2 pm Sunday, September 2 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Butch Brogan officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville. Fire and EMS apparatus are welcome.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
