Harold William “Butch” Epling, 69, of Cox’s Fork, Danville WV, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at home. He was born on December 13, 1953 in Madison, WV.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Dorothy Copley Epling.
He is survived by his wife, Dreama; children: Scott (Julie) Epling of Indiana, Vanessa (Scott) Epling of Haddleton, WV, Billy (Becky) Brown of Bim, WV and Tonia (JT) Handley of Danville, WV; fourteen grandchildren: Seth, Jordan, Kole, Marisa, Tyler (Tabi), Hannah (Jacob), Haleigh, Maddison, Brennan (Janetta), Kerigan, Taylor, Christopher, JJ and Jenna; four great-grandchildren: Cami, Deegan, Jaxon and Oaklyn; brothers: Mike (Jane) Epling of Uneeda, WV and Randy (Becky) Epling of Forest Hill, WV; one sister, Phyllis (JD) Nelson of Danville, WV and a host of other family and friends.
He was beloved “Poppy” to far too many to count and he loved with a heart too big to measure. He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp in Hinton. You could always find him “piddling” in his shed creating many treasures for his friends and loved ones to enjoy. He was the best Poppy ever.
Funeral service will be Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm. At Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Loyd Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Low Gap, WV.
