Harold Zane “Curley” Scragg, 90 years old, departed from his life on September 4, 2013 at 9:45 p.m. at Boone Memorial Hospital, peacefully from natural causes.
“Curley” was born in the town of Hewett, West Virginia on July 20, 1923. He was the son of the late Ernest and Ebbie (Pauley) Scragg.
“Papaw Curley” spent his last days surrounded by his loving family and with several visions of family who passed before him. The family finds comfort knowing he is now with his parents, siblings, and other family members and friends who went before him.
Curley is survived by his sisters, Anna Reynolds and Paulene Johnson; his son-in-law, Edgar Chambers; daughter, Brenda Pauley Miller; grandchildren, Susan Adkins (David Adkins), Gail Miles (Geoff Miles), Renae Lorrison (Shadd Lorrison) and John Pauley; great-grandchildren, Brandon Ball (Ashley Ball), Hillarie Craddock (Travis Craddock) David Owen Adkins (Samantha Adkins) Evan Adkins, Kelsie Sanney (Scotty Sanney) Olivia Dowd, Dylan Dowd, Tanner Twitty, Mason Miles and Gavin Miles as well as a long list of great-great-grandchildren who cherished him dearly.
Memorial and funeral service donations can be sent to Handley Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Clinton Craddock officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
