Hazel Lester Nichols

April 18, 1922 — August 20, 2015

Hazel Lester Nichols, ‘Nanny’, 93, of Lake went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.

Hazel was a Christian and a member of Stevens Chapel Church at Lake, WV. She was born on April 18, 1922, the seventh of ten children born of the late Dennie and Alie Nelson Lester.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years, George E. Nichols; brothers Buster, Sherman, Happy, Woody, Charles, and Dillard; sisters Virginia and Pickford.

Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She loved her family and enjoyed quilting and cooking for all of them. There were few Sundays when everyone wasn’t gathered around her table for dinner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law Patsy and Algie Jeffrey, who lived with her and cared for her; two special grandsons Randy Jeffrey and Michael Jeffrey; great-grandchildren Amy (Scottie), Kayla, who helped with her care, Josh, and Jonathan; her ‘babies’- her great-great-grandchildren Makaya, Trent, Emma, Lyla, and Zander; her very special Baby Sister Dellie Wallen; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville WV, all of our church friends and relatives for their support and prayers, and a very special thanks to Leon and Martha Nichols and Kelli Jeffrey.

Funeral services will be at Handley Funeral Home on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Roger McCauley and Dallas Wallen officiating. Friends may call an hour prior to services.

Burial will follow at Memory Gardens at Low Gap, WV.

Pallbearers include Randy Jeffrey, Mike Jeffrey, Josh Jeffrey, Jon Jeffrey, Tony Nichols, and Scottie Wheatley. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Wallen, Leon Nichols, Billy Nichols, Glenn Nichols, and Ralph Nichols.
