Helen Virginia Sanders

Helen Virginia Miller Sanders of Madison passed away Sept. 17, 2016 at Boone Memorial Hospital with her daughters by her side.
Helen was born April 4, 1929 to the late Otto and Donna Mae Miller of Low Gap. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Sanders, and her son, Harold E "Colonel" Sanders Jr. She was the last of nine children.
She is survived by daughters, Debby (Philip) Harless and Donna (Kenny) Dolin, all of Madison. Also left to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In her early years, Helen was a housewife and mother. She later returned to school to become a licensed practical nurse. She worked many years at Charleston Memorial Hospital and Boone Memorial Hospital, and always took care of family, friends and pets.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Meadowbrook Assisted Living Home, Boone Memorial Hospital and earlier caregivers for the excellent care of our mother.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
