Hershel H. Hoover of Emmons WV passed away on April 29, 2018.
The son of Russell D. Hoover and Cleo G. Hoover, he was raised at Nellis. He entered the United States Army, A veteran of World War II, from 1942 -1944, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, he served his country well as he did his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His everyday walk was his testimony. He was a member of Emmons Freewill Baptist Church. He was known as “Poppy” by most of his close friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Virginia Kinder Hoover; his daughter, Sandra Kay Hoover Barker; his granddaughter, Christina K. Hoover; brothers, Russell T. Hoover, and William Herbert Hoover “Bill”; and sister, Chessie H. Scheib.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Lea Perdue; sons, Danny Ray Hoover and wife Rhonda, and Russell D. Hoover and wife Debbie; son in law, Rhuel Barker; granddaughters, Nancy Chandler, Lisa Belcher, Jennifer Cook and Jamie Miller; grandsons, Cliff Barker, Rodney Barker, Levi Barker, Russell D. Hoover, Jr., Alan Perdue and Eric Perdue; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and one due in July; and son and daughter at heart, Rick and Teresa Barker.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Charles Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
