Hettie Javins Halstead, 92, formerly of Foster, in Boone County, West Virginia, died February 16, 2015, at Mary's Garden, Marmet Center, where she had been lovingly attended for the past many months by a caring and competent staff and visited often by many loyal nieces, nephews and friends.
Born August 24, 1922, to Daniel Winford and Tina (Tiny) Mays Javins, Hettie had eight brothers and sisters--three of whom died in infancy, and five--Carl Javins, Elliot Javins, Harry Javins (her twin), Sybil Javins Moore, and Hazel Javins Starcher--who lived to bring up families of their own, but who also preceded her in death. Hettie had no children, but she loved her many nieces and nephews as if they had been her own.
If one statement could sum up an individual, Aunt Hettie had an exceptional love for humanity. Her life revolved around people, and she was never happier than when spending time with and helping others. For this she will be greatly missed and most fondly remembered.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
