Howard Edsel Sanders, 91, of Branchland, WV passed away Sunday April 2, 2017. He was born September 1,1925 at Midkiff, WV, a son of the late Barney and Emma Clay Sanders.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years , Aileen Courts Sanders; two infant brothers, Leonard and Denver Sanders; and one sister, Lilly May Fortner. Howard was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy during the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111, Hamlin, WV. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and was owner and operator of Sanders Dummy Plant.
He is survived by sons, David E. Sanders (Jeannie) of Jeffersonville, Ga and Gary L. Sanders of Branchland, WV; a daughter, Debra S. Beckett of West Hamlin, WV; and a brother, Wetzel R. Sanders; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 12:00pm Wednesday April 5, 2017 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Pastor Joey Ferguson officiating.
The burial will follow in the Sanders Cemetery, Branchland, WV where there will be a military graveside service by American Legion Post 111.
A visitation will be one prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
