Irene Hatfield Messinger 96 of West Hamlin WV passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
She was born January 22, 1920 in Salt Rock WV, a daughter of the late Ben and Lizzy May Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband Romie Messinger; brothers, Homer (Marie) Hatfield, and Okey (Veda) Hatfield; sisters, Eunice (Darrell) Cremeans and Shirley (Richard) Whaley. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mona (Walter) Holley of West Hamlin; one brother, Tommy Hatfield of Salt Rock, WV; two grandchildren, Phillip (Robin) Skeens II of West Hamlin, Lisa D. Skeens of West Hamlin; great grandchildren, Christopher (Felicia) Skeens of Barboursville, Drew (Alyssa) Skeens of West Hamlin, Felix Skeens, PFC Daniel Peterson of Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, CO., Shelby Peterson of Huntington, Brooke, Ashworth of Milton; three great great grandchildren, Zeke Skeens, Jackson Skeens, Blair Bellomy; and a special care giver, Tina Short.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Center Point Baptist Church, West Hamlin with Pastor Lennie Romans officiating. Burial will follow in the Ben Hatfield Cemetery, Madison Creek Rd., Salt Rock, WV.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the funeral Tuesday at the church.
