Iris J. Price, 88, of Madison went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.
She was born June 6, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Rosco and Gaye Perry Price of Bald Knob, WV. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Boris, Curtis, John R., Connard and Ferris Price; and one sister, Audrey Boggs.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Beverly) Price and David Price both of Bald Knob; two daughters, Claris (Gilbert) Kuehl of Oak Hill and Jenni (Lonnie) Payne of Madison; nine grandchildren, Chris Bunting, Heather Lucas, Mikey Kuehl, Robert Mullins, Deena Price, Keith Price, Lisa Jo Green, Lorie Price and Randall Price; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Charlie Price of Wharton; four sisters, Betty Puckett of Texas, Shirley Broom of Madison, Kathleen Belcher of Beckley and Darlene Bailey of Wharton; and special friend, James Adkins.
Iris spent her childhood years in Bald Knob. As a young woman she enjoyed canning, gardening, visiting yard sales and taking care of her children, grandchildren and extended family. Iris spent many priceless years with her soul mate and companion, Bill Bunting, whom she was also preceded in death by. In Iris’ last years she enjoyed spending time with family, vacationing with her daughters, Claris June and Jenni and reminiscing about her childhood. Iris was a member of New Harvest Church of the Nazarene and loved singing songs such as Amazing Grace, In the Garden and You Are My Sunshine . . . Iris will forever be the sunshine of our family.
A special thank you to Pastor Ruth Anne and the wonderful staff at the Hillcrest Nursing Facility in Danville for showing such love to our mother and grandmother.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 25 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor Ruth Anne DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery at Bald Knob.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
