Jack Perry Browning of Hamlin entered into eternal rest on August 4, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born, January 15, 1947, he was the son of Perry and Lena Browning and a lifelong resident of Hamlin where he graduated from high school. He also attended Huntington business school, receiving an accounting degree, working at various local companies and eventually retiring from the West Virginia Education Association in 2020.
Jack was the proud owner and operator of the WV State Hill Climb for many years. He was involved in various local community organizations in and around Lincoln County and volunteered his time for many charitable causes.
He was the founder of the Lincoln County Memorial Fairgrounds which he initiated in honor and memory of his parents Perry and Lena, and this was his passion until his final days.
Always active, his hobbies included gardening, mowing grass, canning, shopping and keeping up with friends and family. He was an avid Marshall fan and loved going for a drive in his trucks.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents. He is will be missed dearly by his sister Wanda Holton of Warren, Ohio, two nephews: Mike (Shelley) Holton of Warren, Ohio and Mark (Roxanna) Holton of Lordstown, Ohio; great-nieces and -nephews: Tiffany Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, Jackie (David) Woodward of Lordstown, Ohio, Shane (Gina) Holton of Lordstown, Ohio and Bill Holton of Lordstown, Ohio; nine great-great nieces and nephews: Brandon, Trenton, Gage, Laynie, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Rush, Logan, and Violet.
Calling hours will be held at Handley Funeral Home in Hamlin, WV on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 with visiting from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral service will be at 2pm. Interment will take place at Millers Cemetery in Sweetland. Condolences can be left at www.handleyfh.com.
