Jack D. Kirk, 76, of Ridgeview was born October 27, 1936 and passed away March 11, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Opal Massey Kirk; brothers, John, James, and Everette Kirk; sister, Alice Faye Kirk Barker; great-grandchildren, Melanie Hope and Stacia Faith Davis and Jaycee Kirk; and his first wife, Carol Tyler Kirk.
He was known as "Mad Jack" at Harris#1 Patriot Coal where he worked for 24 years. He was a member of the UMWA and was a US Navy veteran and a member of the VFW.
To friends and family he was known as "Daddy Jack." He was a hard working family man and will be deeply missed, always remembered and never forgotten for he lives on in everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ellen Kirk; their seven children, Jackie, Ronnie, William, Kathy, Joey, Tony, and Michael; sister, Janie and husband Jake Javins; brother, Phillip and wife Anita; men who were like brothers, Robert Blaylock and wife Betty and Clint Smith and wife Faye; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 15 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Eugene Angel officiating. Burial will follow in Massey Cemetery at Winifrede, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the funeral home.
