Jackie E. Bowyer

September 9, 1939 — November 27, 2016

Jackie E. Bowyer, 77, of Madison, formerly of Cabin Creek, went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2016 at home peacefully.

Jackie was a retired coal miner of 20 years. He last worked at Eagle Nest Coal at Twilight and was a member of the UMWA Local 633. Jackie enjoyed all sports, especially football and Nascar Racing. He also loved watching the movies and old westerns. He was a member of Freedie Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dixie Bowyer; sister, June (Glen) Witlow; and brothers, Jimmy and Bill (Callie) Bowyer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elvonna; sons, Bill (Phyllis) Robinson and grandson Cory Robinson of Robinson, Steve (Bonnie) Ward of Cabin Creek; step-daughter, Jennifer (David) Cales of Ramsey, Illinois; many nieces and nephews and cousins; special cousin Wayne Gibson of Henerville, WV, Robert White of Cabin Creek; special friend, Hilda Dean; and our teacup poodle, Dixie.

A special thanks to Dignity Hospice for the care they gave Jackie.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 2 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Steve Burns and Billy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
