Jackie C. Mitchell

Jackie C. Mitchell “Poker”, 83, of West Madison passed away at home October 25, 2015. He was the son of the late Robert M. Mitchell Sr. and Barbara Davis Mitchell. In addition he was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Vanhoose Mitchell; his brothers, Ralph, Robert Jr., Carrol and Billy Mitchell; sister, Alma Lee; step sister, Mary Osborne; and step mother, Tressie Mitchell.

He was a retired Msgt. In the US Air Force where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also retired from Peabody Coal #9 mine at Twilight and a member of UMWA.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Walker (Orsel); granddaughter, Joetta Halstead (Randy); grandson, Kenney Walker; great-grandson, Wade Halstead; step brothers, Edward and Johnny Mitchell all of Madison; step grandchildren, Randi, Marie, Preston and Taylor Halstead.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 27 with Steve Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown with military graveside rites performed by US Air Force Honor Guard.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
