James Henderson Adkins

James Henderson “Hint” Adkins 71 of West Hamlin, WV passed away June 29, 2018 at home. He was born November 4, 1946 in Lincoln County to the late Garland (Jack) and Bessie Adkins. He worked as a coal miner and carpenter. He served in the US Marines in the Vietnam War. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mennis Curtis Adkins and Allen Eugene Adkins; and one great grandchild Ava Alexandria Steele.
He is survived by his wife Katha Marie Adkins of West Hamlin of 48 years; a sister Shelda Foxx of West Hamlin; two sons Robert (Sheila) Adkins of West Hamlin, and James Henderson Adkins Jr. of West Hamlin; six grandchildren, Katie (Chase) Steele, Samantha Adkins, Seth Adkins, Emily Adkins, Ryan Adkins, and David Adkins; and Granny Marie Burress.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday July 3, 2018 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home West Hamlin, WV with Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery Branchland, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 111 of Hamlin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
