James Dale Smith

James Dale Smith, 81, of Julian, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024.

He was born April 28, 1942 to the late Henry and Ethel Smith.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Josephine of 56 years; and was met in Heaven by a host of brothers and sisters.

James is survived by his brother, Bob; his sister, Gloria Jean; sons, Jimmy (Donna) of Julian, Jerry (Janie) of Alkol, Jackie (Tammy) of Alkol, and Jeff (Stacy) of Nellis; and daughter, Julie (Timmy) of Julian. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Elijah (Heather) Smith, Samantha (J.W.) Gay, Cody Smith, Kristen Wilburn, Hannah (Cody) Smith, Jon’rai Estep, Kayla (Aaron) Smith, Josie and Allie Smith, and Ry’ann Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Brody Smith, Brooke, John Gay and Olivia Wilburn.

The family would like to thank Hillcrest Nursing Home of Danville, WV for the care they gave him and for treating him like a member of their family.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with service beginning at 7 p.m.
