James David Hammond, 71, of Bald Knob, WV passed away November 4, 2014 at his home.
He was born March 30, 1943 in Miami, WV and was a son of the late Fred and Martha Yeager Hammond.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA; a US Army veteran and a life member of Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, WV; a member of Masonic Lodge at Whitesville, WV; and a member of Shriners.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay; two sons, James David Hammond Jr. (Bubby) of Bald Knob, WV and Derick Kevin Hammond of Bald Knob, WV; one daughter, Patty Sue Galuszek of Lafayette, La; son-in-law, Eric Galuszek of Lafayette, La; daughter-in-law, Anna Elizabeth Hammond of Madison, WV; brother, Corby Lee Hammond of Cazy, WV; sister, Lilly Mae Short of Florida; four grandchildren, Mitchelle Howell of Outer Banks, NC, Samantha Hart of Lafayette, La, “his special boys”, Cody Hammond of Madison, WV and Colton Hammond of Madison, WV.; and three great-grandchildren, Kaiden Hart of Lafayette, La, Easton Hart of Coal City, WV and Hope Terral of Van, WV.
Services will be 2 pm Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown, WV with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.
