James Richard Matheny

James Richard “Junkyard” Matheny, 41, of Midkiff, WV beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and friend died Monday, November 6, 2017.
He was husband to Donna Matheny; father to Joshua Allen Matheny, Tyler James Chaney, and Hunter William Matheny; adopted children, Kandas Skeens Stowers, William Tyler Skeens, Aliyah Faith Chaney, and many more.
He was the son of the late James Arthur Matheny, and Diann Fowler Matheny.
In addition to his mother, other survivors include his sisters Katrina Thacker and Sabrina Parsons; thoughtful brother to Robert Lovejoy and many more; son-in-law to Retta Faye Chaney and Jimmy Nelson; six nephews; and five nieces.
He was born in Huntington and resided in Midkiff and was the owner of Matheny mobile movers. He was a great husband, wonderful father, and a special friend to many. He was a jack of all trades, always ornery and picking on someone to make them laugh. He was the craziest person everyone knew and did not know his next move. Gone but never forgotten. “Jamie, Retta Faye say the sun will shine tomorrow.”
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 10 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin with J.R. Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Matheny Camp Cemetery, Midkiff.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
