James Earley Peters, 76, of Keith, West Virginia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 11, 2015. He was born in Prenter, WV on December 21, 1938 to the late Earley and Sadie Mae Peters. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Bryan Gray and brother, Billy Otis Steele.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 50 years, Becky, who was his constant companion and soulmate; his faithful and loving daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Archie Bassham, Lora and Darren Reese of Seth, Betty and Jamie Baisden of Peytona and Mike Jopek and Wavia Jopek-Jones (Dave) of Parma Heights, OH; sisters, Betty Miles and Rhoda Minton; grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Kirk, Stacey (Chris) Holstein, Mattlee Bassham, ShelLee Bassham, Shaun Gray (Sandra Perdue), Heather Baisden, Jamie Baisden and Jennifer Jopek; two great-grandchildren, Jacey Holstein and Owen Kirk along with three great-grandchildren due this year. He also leaves behind his close friends Charles (Erayna) Strickland, Dave (Tara) Holstein and special nephews Leonard and Bobby Steele who were like his sons; along with a host of church family, nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked at FMC, Bethlehem Steel and retired from Kessler Coal Company.
He was a member of the Amazing Grace Fellowship Church of Seth where he spent his last years enjoying and worshiping with his many brothers and sisters in Christ. He previously attended Keith Full Gospel Church where he was a trustee and spent many countless hours helping build the current church. He was a great man of faith and never went without witnessing about his Lord and Savior and inviting you to church.
Dad strived to live his life for his Lord Jesus Christ and his family. He enjoyed reading his Bible, teaching and interpreting the Bible, spending time with his family and friends, taking in local flea markets and yard sales with his wife, gardening, ginsenging, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeler riding and taking in all of God’s majestic beauty and bird watching from his back porch window. Our lives are so much more enriched because of our dad and mom. Together, they made our house a home, a home of love, faith and nurturing all of which we hope to pass to our children and grandchildren someday. Go rest high on that mountain dad, we will always love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
A special thank you to Dr. Jagannath and Dr. Basu for your undivided time and impeccable care of our father throughout his life.
