James “Jamie” Eugene Totten, age 52, of Madison, West Virginia, passed away October 5, 2018 after a brief illness. Jamie was born on April 7, 1966 in Charleston, WV to Lois Totten and the late Harold Eugene “Gene” Totten.
In addition to his mother, Jamie is survived by his uncle Gary L. Whittington, Sr. and wife Rebecca, of Spotsylvania, Virginia; his cousin Gary L. Whittington, Jr. and wife Jenny, of Suffolk, Virginia; his aunt Shirley Vandall, of Chesapeake, Virginia; and numerous cousins and friends.
Jamie was a lifelong resident of Madison, a 1984 graduate of Scott High School, and a proud member of the Scott Sky Hawks football team. He was an avid fan of all WVU athletic programs, especially the football and basketball teams. Jamie was an active and dedicated member and officer of the Madison Moose Lodge. He took great pride in supporting the children’s programs, such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the Christmas program. He also helped to plan and organize member trips to Morgantown to watch and cheer for the Mountaineers and represented the Madison Lodge at state Board of Governors meetings. Additionally, Jamie was a longtime supporter of the Boone County chapter of WVU alumni and loved helping to raise money for scholarships.
Jamie’s life will be remembered and celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Tom Bias and Jerry Workman officiating.
