James "Jimmie" Lee Totten

May 12, 1937 — March 3, 2015

James "Jimmie" Lee Totten, 77, passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 3rd, 2015.

Jim was born on May 12, 1937 in Ashford, West Virginia to the late Calvary C. Totten and Hattie B. Totten. Jim was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Dalquist of Chicago, IL.

He is survived by his son, Michael Lee Totten of California; his sisters, Loretta Woodrum of Ridgeview, WV and Helen Watkins of Charleston, WV; his brothers; Joe Totten of Chicago, IL and Harold Totten of Charleston, WV.

Jim was a graduate of Sherman High School. After serving in the Navy, he attended art school in California, where he lived most of his life. He was a talented artist with a larger than life personality. He had a love of nature and would notice every little detail, capturing it with his beautiful oil paintings on canvas. With a love of books and classical music, he possessed a plethora of knowledge and educated others around him with his large vocabulary. He had a kind and giving soul, always having a compliment for others no matter how well he knew them. "Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you. I loved you so—'twas heaven here with you," by Isla Paschal Richardson.

Per Jim's wishes, there will be no service. We will miss that big smile and warm hugs... Rest in Peace, Jim.
