Janet Browning

Janet Browning, 70, of Wharton, WV passed away at home June 29, 2024.

She was a retired security guard and a member of Jarrells Valley Church, started God’s Gift of Love Ministry and Gordon Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvery “Bud” and Helen Johnson; sisters, Hazel L. Gibson, Connie M. Lawson and Charlotte Duckett; brothers, Don E. Johnson and Van J. Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Browning; children, Neil and Ashley Browning, Kenneth and Amanda Browning of Wharton, WV and Megan Browning of Madison, WV; grandchildren, Isiah Perdue, Daniel Browning, Nathan Browning, Ava Browning, Austin Browning, Kelsea Cogar, Kierra Browning and Kirsten Browning; siblings, Willis and Diane Samson, Wirtz of VA, Sandra “Vonda” and Johnny Vance of Wharton, WV, Vaughn and Naomi Johnson of Gaffney SC, Janice and Jimmy Huffman of Madison, WV Diana Williams of Charleston, WV, Lavonia Carter of Huntington, WV and Ellen “Pinkey” and Eddie McKinney of Drawdy, WV; mother-in-law, Joyce Browning of Man, WV; along with a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Verner Community Church, Verner, WV with Pastor Ronnie Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery, Verner.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV.
