Janice V. Bias, age 81, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2019 at her home where she was lovingly surrounded by her family.
Janice was a lifelong resident of Hewett, West Virginia, where she made a loving home with her husband Juddy L. Bias of 62 years.
Born on January 23, 1938, Janice was the youngest of fourteen children of the late Floyd Kenny and Lillie Rose Ball. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Juddy L. Bias and all thirteen siblings.
Survivors include her three children, Vicki DeHart of Foster, Karen (Jimmy) Johnson of Hewett, Barry (Peggy) Bias of Spars Creek; her grandchildren Kristi Johnson, Jamie (Shellia) Johnson, Nathaniel (Lindsay) Bias, Joey (Debra) DeHart, and Paige DeHart; and great grandchildren, Trey Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Peyton DeHart, Kenleigh Johnson, and Easton Bias. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
She had a profound love for her family, and she took much pride that her grandchildren were teaching their children to be respectful and kind. She treasured her children and through her actions, taught us bravery and strength. She was gutsy, but loyal to fault. Her strength to survive in this game of life was unparalleled by anyone we have ever encountered. Our hearts are broken, but we are blessed to know that she is in no more pain. Her heart is rejoicing with Dad and her family members that she has missed so very much.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Boone Memorial Hospital and Dignity Hospice Comfort Care for their support in her final days.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2:00 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Rev. Roger McCauley and Danny Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
Friends may call two hours prior to service.
