James Donald “J.D.” Turley
March 23, 1982 - January 9, 2022
James Donald "J.D." Turley, 39, of Charleston, WV was called to his heavenly home on January 9, 2022 after his battle with brain cancer. He resided in Charleston, WV with the loves of his life; wife Sabrina, and his children Audrey and Uriah. He is also survived by his parents Jim and Nancy Turley; father and mother-in-law Tony and Brenda Travise; sister Amy (Jason) Scott, Ashby, Jaycee and Jamison; brother-in-law Silas (Danielle) Travise, Amelia and Claire; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was the grandson of the late Rev. Harry and Pearl Palmer; Donald “Wayne” and Phyllis Turley.
J.D. loved family, teaching, outdoors, and most of all the Lord. He attended college at Alderson-Broaddus University, where he obtained a Computer Science Degree. He later attended WV State to obtain a History Degree, and finally Marshall University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education. He had a love for teaching and connecting with his students. He taught WV Studies at Madison Middle School, and coached many teams in the WV History Bowl. He served with different church groups, including a teaching team, and both youth and adult ministries.
He will be remembered for his love of Jesus, his witty humor, and the love he had for everyone he met.

A celebration to honor J.D.’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Randall Kinder and Jason Scott officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.
