Jean Carper DuVall 84, of West Hamlin, WV went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born January 22, 1931 a daughter of the late Winferd and Vola Smith Carper. She was also preceded in death by her step father Russell Pauley and two brothers, James Donald Carper and Jack Pauley.
She was a bookkeeper for First National Bank and a lifelong member of Hamlin Baptist Church. At the time of her passing she was the longest active member holding several roles in the church. Over the years she served as church clerk, Sunday School teacher, belonged to the women's missions and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and a faithful Christian servant of God.
She is survived by her husband Alben DuVall of West Hamlin, WV; a sister Jill Miller of Huntington, WV; one niece Phyllis Carper Dorsey of Virginia; two granddaughters, Amanda (Dan) Kimberg of NC, and Michelle (Brian) Graf of Virginia; one great granddaughter Eliana Dorsey Kimberg of NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday March 15, 2015 at Hamlin Baptist Church, Hamlin, WV with James Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin, WV. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV.
