Jewell Evelyn Riggs Pauley
In the early morning hours on Saturday February 27, 2016, just eight days away of her ninety-third birthday, Jewell Evelyn Riggs Pauley completed over ninety-two years of life and all of its glorious experiences before departing for her eternal rest.
She battled the Parkinson’s disease and suffered poor health in her last years at home before entering the long term care unit at the Marmet Center. Even though her physical condition was poorly her mental awareness was without blemish as she made new acquaintances and friendships with others inside the facility.
She adored life as she was adored by others, and left behind a legacy that does nothing less or falls short of the golden rule “love your neighbor as you love yourself”.
Her birth place was in Jeffery, Boone County WV (String Town), on March 6, 1923, to the late James Matthew Riggs, and Zella Pauley Riggs. She was preceded in death by (husband) Roy A. Pauley, (daughter) Marilyn J. Pauley Tagliente, (son) Roy D. Pauley, (sisters) Louise McDerment, Goldie Justice, (brothers) Glenn Riggs, Tom Riggs, Jack Riggs, James E. Riggs and Bob Riggs.
Surviving are her (daughters) Janice E. Hutchison and Margret K. Braniff, (sons) Donnie W. Pauley, Joel A. Pauley, Stanley S. Pauley and John C. Pauley, (brother) Bill Riggs, along with eighteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Handley Funeral Home, Danville WV, on Wednesday March 2, 2016, with visitation for all from 12 noon through to 2 pm, and services 2 PM. Donnie W Pauley, Minister, Church of Christ Peytona is officiating the services.
Special thanks to our mother’s special friend Rose Harless, Teays Valley Center, Marmet Center to include administration/staff/employees helping in our mother’s care, and for all those who sent cards, visited and prayed for our mother.
