Jewell Mae Peal, 86, of Uneeda went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2016. She was born in Lillybrook, WV on January 20, 1930 to the late Corbett and Roxie Broyles Blake. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjoretta Calfee, Elaine Miller, June Burkhard and Betty Walton; and brother, Bill Blake.
She had a Masters Degree in education. Granny taught school and also served as Language Arts supervisor and was instrumental in starting Special Ed Programs. She loved square dancing and traveling. She was an active member of the Madison United Methodist Church since moving to Madison in 1961.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Eugene Peal; son, Mike and Carol Peal of Bel Air, Maryland; and daughter, Mary Jewell and Doug Cox of Uneeda, WV; brother, John R. and Jackie Blake of Boise, Idaho; sister, Shirley Wentz of Charleston, WV; five grandchildren, Melissa Davis, Megan Peal, Jaime Strange, Jill Baker and Charles Cox; five great-grandchildren, Manuel Strange, Oliver Strange, Victoria Strange, Blake Zamora and Wyatt Cox.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
