Jimmy Edward Elkins

Jimmy Edward Elkins, 72, of Hewett, WV, peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 1st, 2024. He was born on February 29th, 1952, in Boone County, WV, to the late Grady and Dolly (Adkins) Elkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious son, Jimmy Dale Elkins; his brother Lloyd Elkins; his sister, Phyllis Elkins; and his grandfather and special grandmother, Steven and Cora Elkins, and Oley and Esta Adkins.

Jimmy was a deeply religious man, firmly grounded in his faith. His wealth of knowledge about the Word of God made him eager to share it with anyone who would lend an ear. It was especially important to him to impart the teachings of the Lord to his son and daughter, often reading the Bible to them. Jimmy took great joy in seeing his family grow, cherishing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his devotion to his family and faith, he found peace and delight in taking leisurely rides in his Red Mustang.

Jimmy's memory is cherished by his beloved daughter, Tammy (Junior) of Foster, WV. He was also blessed with two grandchildren: Josh Ellis of Claremont, NC and Taylor (Tyler) of Man, WV. His legacy continues through his two great-grandchildren, Ryver and Weston Blair. He is survived by three brothers: Boyde (Brenda) Elkins of Hewett, WV, Curtis (Carol) Elkins of Chapmanville, WV, and Michael Elkins of Greenview, WV; Jimmy's sister, Judy (Chester) Workman of Jeffrey, WV; and his many nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with David Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Pecks Mill, WV.  

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.
