Joseph Dean Bertels, 55 years old, of Ridgeview, WV passed away on November 12, 2021 after a logging accident. He was born January 27, 1966, a son of the late Alan and Joanna Bertels of Dorsey, IL.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting for mushrooms, and all outdoor activities. He loved all his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Bertels; son, Trent McCollum, (Terry Smith); daughter, Melissa McCollum and granddaughters, Amyah McCollum and Lyrik Laws; son Ryan Bertels, and daughter Kiley Bertels and grandchildren; brothers, Larry and Kim and Dean Bertels of Staunton, IL, John and Tim and Heidi Bertels all of Dorsey, IL; sisters, Cindy and Bruno Bruhn of Staunton, IL, and Laurie and Terry of Meadowbrook, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
Handley Funeral Home in Danville is assisting the family.
