Joy Gale Ball

Joy Gale Ball, 79, of Hewett, WV gained her wings on July 2, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.

She was born August 13, 1944 in Hewett to the late Leslie Clifford and Sylvia Macil (Hager) Ball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Ball; sisters, Flora Dot (Dottie) Gibson, Cloanna Raines and Linda Ferrell; brother-in-law, Joe Fowler; sister-in-law, Margaret Ball.

She is survived by her children, Michael "Mickey" Nichols of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Barry (Susan) Nichols of Hewett and Lynn (Todd) Pridemore of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Amanda (Dougie) Nelson, Tiffany (Derrick) Massey, Chris (Kelsea) Pridemore, Austin (Heather Chapman) Pridemore, Cody (Hannah) Nichols, Jordan Preece; step-grandchildren, Michael Mayhorn, Cherrikah (Dakota) Ball; great-grandchildren, Preston and Parker Nelson; sister, Brenda Fowler; sister-in-law, Janice Ball; brothers, Leon (Marlene) Ball, Leslie Ball and a very special twin brother, Roy Ball; her very good friends Rob and Bridget Kitchen; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joy was a homemaker and caregiver all of her life. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, playing cards, quilting, and working puzzles. Joy was full of spunk and lightheartedness. She had a way of making everyone who knew her feel welcomed and loved. 

The family would like to send special thanks to the amazing staff at Boone Memorial Hospital ER, the Neuro ICU at CAMC General and Hubbard Hospice House for the dedicated and compassionate care you provided over the past week.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024 from 6pm to 9pm at Spencer United Methodist Church (270 Meadow Fork Rd. Hewett, WV 25108). Funeral services to be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the church. Burial to follow at Ball Cemetery, Hewett, WV. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Handley Funeral Home in Danville to assist with funeral expenses.
