Juddy Lee Bias, age 83, passed on August 4, 2018 at Boone Memorial Hospital where he was lovingly surrounded by family and friends.
Juddy was a lifelong resident of Hewett, West Virginia, where he made a loving home with his wife Janice (Ball) Bias of 62 years.
Born on January 8, 1935, Juddy was the youngest son of the late Omer and Tina (Dent) Bias. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings; Estle (Ruth) Bias, Ella (Eugene) Ball, Ronald (Lucille) Bias, Cassett (Bernadine) Bias, Earl (Edna Ruth) Bias, and Janet (Charles) Allen.
Juddy is survived by his wife, Janice and their children, Vicki DeHart of Foster, WV, Karen (Jimmy) Johnson of Hewett, Barry (Peggy) Bias of Spars Creek; his grandchildren, Kristi Johnson, Jamie (Shellia) Johnson, Nathaniel (Lindsay) Bias, Joey (Debra) DeHart, and Paige DeHart; and great grandchildren, Trey Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Peyton DeHart, Kenleigh Johnson, and Easton Bias. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews,and lifelong friends.
He was a lifelong UMWA member, and retired from Omar Mining Company. He enjoyed reminiscing about his accomplishments at the mines and the friends he made along the way. He was proud of his family and he thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo with his beloved wife, Janice for many years.
Sincere thanks to his special caregivers, Kristen Bennett and Deanna Wandling, Dr. Howard Lafferty, and the ER staff at BMH for their kindness to allow his passing to be dignified and peaceful.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with the Rev. Roger McCauley and Danny Spencer officiation. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
