A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Judith Ann Cross (Judi) Turley, 68, of Madison, WV, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was born April 20, 1950 in Steubenville, OH, to the late Clyde Wesley Cross and Katherine Louise Owen Cross. She married Gary Wayne Turley on June 18, 1977 and he survives.
Also surviving are her two brothers Clyde Wesley (Bud) Cross and his wife Alma of Wheeling, WV, and Joseph Edward (Butch) Cross and his wife Darlene of Weirton, WV; one daughter Amanda Dawn Gunnoe and her husband Kenny of Gainesville, VA; one step-daughter Shawna Renee Nunnery and her husband Larry of Powell Creek, WV; three grandchildren Isabella Katherine Gunnoe, Larry Eugene (Trey) Nunnery III, and Jordon Scott Nunnery; and several nieces and nephews.
Judi was a long-time resident of Madison, WV where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Wellsburg, WV at the age of 22. She graduated from West Liberty State College in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree with a specialty in Speech and Language Art, West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in 1979 with a Master's Degree in Special Education, and Marshall University in 1999 with a Masters of Art Degree.
She touched many lives as a Special Education Teacher in Boone County for 42 years. She was also a great supporter of the Special Olympics and the local Theater group, S.T.A.G.E where she directed many plays for the community. She proudly wore the title as the “Firefighters Wife” for 40 years.
She loved traveling, soaking up the sun at the beach, cooking and spending time with her family. Summer and Christmas was her favorite times of the year and she made sure her family got to experience the best holidays ever.
The visitation is from 1 PM until 3 PM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV.
