Kenneth Ray Bailey, 77, of Alkol, WV passed away December 29, 2023.
He was born February 18, 1946 to the late Pierce and Ruby Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Wattie and Lemmie “Yeager” Miller and Curtis J. and Lou Emma (Dickens) Bailey; sisters Shirley Miller and Shelva Troll; brother Samuel Bailey; and son-in-law Sam Warner.
He was a Chaplain at Station 100 (MRVFD), a retired coal miner from Southern Appalachian Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA, a member of United Autoworkers, and a member and deacon at Bulger Community Church. Kenneth loved hunting, fishing, and taxidermy. He was actively involved with all four of his grandchildren. He was so proud and supportive of all of them.
He is survived by wife Shirley Bailey; his daughters, Tina Warner (Sam) of Alkol, WV, Dina (Eugene) VanGundy of Julian, WV and Trena (James) Kish of Alkol, WV; brother, Norman (Arlene) Bailey of Stafford, VA; sister, Naomi (Louie) Bunting of Foster, WV; and four grandchildren, Briana Warner (John Aldridge) of Alkol, WV, Jordan Kish of Imperial Beach, CA, Garrett VanGundy and Evan VanGundy of Julian, WV; and many surviving nieces and nephews and was proud of them all.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Rev. Joe Vickers and Deacon Ricky Bowman officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.
