Kimberly Rae Bell Dunlap, 62, of Manila, WV, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on February 21, 2025 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Kim was born to Tilden R. Bell and Peggy L. Casey on December 10, 1962 in Madison, WV. She was a graduate of the Scott High School Class of 1981, where she participated in multiple clubs and activities such as marching band and 4-H. After high school, she attended Southern West Virginia Community College and made a career as a clerk at the Regional Jail Authority in Charleston, WV, and Southwestern Regional Jail in Logan, WV. After becoming disabled, she often told stories of her time there, looking back on it fondly.
Kim was a devoted Christian and a member of Greenview Church of Christ. She strived to follow the Lord and obey His word, and above all, she raised her children and grandchildren up in the way they should go. Under any circumstances, she would say, “Talk to God about it.”
Kim was an avid reader, book collector, board game player and couponer. She loved finding a deal and saying, “Guess how much I paid for that.” On any typical day, one could walk into Kim’s house and find her in her favorite chair watching The Andy Griffith Show, The Little House on the Prairie, or WSAZ. Before becoming ill, Kim’s favorite vacation destination was Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She loved to hit the shops, restaurants, and Dollywood with her grand babies.
Kim’s purpose in life for the last 20 years has lived within her grandchildren. No one can imagine a more kind, caring, and loving Mamaw. She took pride in telling everyone about her “Brady Bunch” of 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. In years past, Kim was very active in all of their lives, attending games, concerts, recitals, and school events. After becoming ill, she was just as supportive from the sidelines. From games on the radio to band concert videos, she paid attention and was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Kim is proceeded in death by her father, Tilden Bell, her grandparents Rod and Celia Bell and Charley and Marie Perdue, and a host of aunts and uncles.
Those left to remember her include her life partner, Arlie Perkins; mother and stepfather Tommy and Peggy Casey; two daughters, Shawna Lynn McNeely and Kayla Nicole Hensley; one son, Charley Hassell Dunlap; two sons-in-law, George McNeely and Leslie Dale Hensley II; and her aunt and uncle, Gary and Suzanne Bell. Those left to remember their Mamaw Kim include her six grandchildren, Jordan Marie Aleshire, Zachery Allen McNeely, Braleigh Raeshelle Hensley, Joshua Dale Hensley, Leslie Danielle Hensley, and Grayson Isaiah Hensley. Her memory will also be cherished by many friends and church family. Kim lit up every room with her bright and warm spirit, and she will be deeply missed by many.
Pallbearers will be Leslie Dale Hensley II, George McNeely, Zachery McNeely, Joshua Hensley, and Ethan Gillispie. Honorary pallbearers include Grayson Hensley, and members of the State Police family.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 24 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Richard Runion, Frank Ball, and Allan Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison, WV.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
