Kyle Gordon Garretson, 82, of Branchland passed away July 31, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington.
II Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
He was born February 14, 1933 in Lincoln County and was a son of the late, Charles and Nora Brady Garretson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Keith and Bob; and grandson, Joshua Garretson.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devout Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church; a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and member of the VFW; a basketball coach at Harts High School; and was retired from the Lincoln County Board of Education with 36 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth; sons, Kyle Joseph of Midkiff; Reggie (Beverly) and Wendell (Robin) both of West Hamlin; sister, Sharon Fortune of Logan; sister-in-law, Emogene Garretson (son Randy) of Logan; brother, Steve (Janice) of Michigan; grandchildren, Kristopher, Kyle Thomas, Jeanna and Brien; great-granddaughter, Kailee; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2 at McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin with Pete Davidson, Cecil Mullins and Dave Lucas officiating Burial will follow in Cummings-Brady Cemetery, Ranger with military rites performed by American Legion Post 111 of Hamlin.
