Lenore Ferrell

July 19, 1931 — July 15, 2015

Lenore Ferrell, 83, of Hewett, Boone County, WV passed away July 14, 2015 at home with family. She was the daughter of the late Les and Georgia Spencer Kingery, born on July 19, 1931 at Jeffrey, WV. Also preceding her were husband, Emil Ferrell; son, Tim Ferrell; grandson, Jonathon Ferrell; sister, Jean Starner; and brother, Emmet Ulbrich.

She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church at Hewett and a charter member of the Boone County Genealogical Society where she held several positions over the years. Lenore was a co-author of “The Ball Family of Boone County” and wrote several articles about Boone County families that were published in “Kith and Kin of Boone County.” In addition, she assisted in the completing of “The Boone County History” published by the society.

During her lifetime she worked as a telephone operator in Charleston, Logan and Madison, WV. She drove a contract bus for Boone County Board of Education. In addition she was a sales lady for Sarah Coventry and Avon. Lastly, she was the bookkeeper for her late husband’s family trucking business.

Left to cherish her memory are four sons, Steve (Emily) of Sharples, Mickey of Hewett, Freddie (Patty) of Hewett and Tommy (Nancy) of Madison; four grandchildren, Matthew (Jessie) of Portland, TN, Chris (Jessica), Justin of Charleston and Allison of Madison; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ian, Jon, Elizabeth, Caden, Aryonna and Abigayle; one brother, Tom (Ann) Kingery of Okeechobee, Fla.; six nieces; four nephews; a special cousin, Eula Ball who was like a sister; her genealogy buddies; and other friends and relatives.

Service for Lenore will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 17 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Low Gap.
