Leona Mae Smith, 79 years old, of Wharton died Thursday, May 13, 2016 of a sudden illness in her home. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Richard Pauley of Pt. Pleasant; and daughter, Venus Miller of Bias’ Branch.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Smith of Wharton; daughters, Deborah Miller of Charleston and Martha Sigmon of Alum Creek; sons, Tyrell Miller of Ridgeview, Jorell Miller of Foster, Richard Pauley of Greenview and Joseph Pauley of Richmond, VA; stepchildren, Karen Zornes, Robert Smith and Judy Cook; 13 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Naomi Menninger of Charleston; brother, Claude Brown of Ironton; and sister, Joyce Fowler of Julian; and a host of friends and family.
She was a member of Brown’s Branch Church, Gordon.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Phil Rowe and the Rev. David May officiating. Burial will follow in Pauley Cemetery, Big Branch, Greenview.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
