Lola Francis Reynolds

Lola Francis Reynolds, age 88, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia, with family by her side.

Lola was born on May 24, 1929, to the late John and Jennie Smith, and was the last survivor of their 11 children. Lola was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Herman Reynolds.

Lola, known as “Nanny,” lived a full life, spending 77 years in the West Hamlin home built by her brother, Amos. She was proud of her home, and those driving by on Route 10 often stopped to admire her garden and flowers, and to enjoy a cup of coffee and chat with Lola, as she was often sitting on her porch swing. She loved to welcome visitors into her home. Lola touched many lives as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She took pride in hard work, gardening, and her family and friends.

She is survived by three children, Ormond Smith and his wife Lois; Ricky Reynolds; and Joyce Workman and her husband Scottie; two grandchildren, Brandy Walker and her husband Matt; and Scottie Workman and his wife Stephanie; and great grandchildren Haylee and Logan Workman and Lola and Ruby Walker. Lola’s family would like to recognize her neighbor, Earlene Johnson, who Lola thought of as a daughter.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV. The burial will be in the Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.

A visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
