Lorena Hicks

Lorena “Patsy” Hicks of Gordon passed away January 27, 2020 in Charleston Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
She was born December 15, 1937 to Levi Kidwell and Alice Shumate and was a lifelong resident of Boone County, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband James Hicks; daughter Rebecca Ball; sisters Nannie Linville, Phoebe Linville, and Fairy Jarrell; and brothers Earnest Browning, Escoe Browning and Cecil Browning.
She is survived by her children Deborah Setser of Gordon, Teressa Loftis of Van, Joann Jarrell of Van, Lori Franklin of Bradley, WV, James Hicks of Van, Carolyn Cook of Van, Timothy Hicks (Angel) of Greenwood, and one sister Violet Hammond of Van. She was the grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She raised her children in Bandytown, WV and lived there most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, going to yard sales, and caregiving to others. She was always a hard worker and was well respected in her community.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30 at Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown with Phil Rowe officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
