Loretta Slena Kinder

Loretta Slena Kinder, 92, of Ridgeview, WV, went home to be with her Lord on August 22, 2023 at 10:31 am with her caregivers and daughters Glenna Miller and Thelma Tully by her side at her home in Ridgeview, WV after battling a long term illness since October 2022.

Loretta is the daughter of the late Isaac and Edna Kearse Browning, born in Camp Creek, WV on January 23, 1931. She is the 4th of 9 siblings.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Cebert, Roy, and Herbert Browning and her sisters Maxine Smith, Patsy Browning, and Irene Boggs. Her husband Owen Lester Kinder of 54 years, two twin daughters Loretta and Joretta, son in law's Lawrence Tudor and Jackie Hall, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Edna Pauline Tudor, Owen Meck Kinder (Kathy), Billy Wayne Kinder (Judy), Joseph Don Kinder (Sheba), Erman Ralph Kinder (Penny), Thelma Lou Tully (Charles), and Glenna Sue Miller. Her sister Eliza Harless (Wilbur) and brother Darryl Browning (Barbara).

She also has 16 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 32 great-great grand-children, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren. Along with many nieces and nephews

She has been a faithful member of the Estep House of Prayer for 30 years and loved to be in that small town church with her friends and so many of her family. She has always been a fond farmer and canner, teaching her children and several grandchildren the art of the trade. She also loved for her family to come sit with her at home and play a few games of Rook.

Loretta has lived a long and blessed life. She was loved by everyone she encountered. She will always be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother and while her family will miss her dearly we find peace in knowing she will be reunited with her husband Lester and her two children, Loretta and Joretta, along with several other family members. We were blessed with 92 years of her life and are very grateful for those years. Her memory will live on through all of our hearts, that firecracker attitude, the loving and tenderness behind her voice and the love for her entire family will never fade.

We also want to thank everyone who has offered to help out during this trying time with prayers, flowers, food, or anything that we may have needed.

Visitation will be held at Handley Funeral Home at Danville Saturday August 26, 2023. Family can begin arriving at 5:30 p.m. friends may come from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV at 2:00 p.m. Sunday August 27, 2023. The opening services will be completed by Pastor Michael Thompson and officiating will be done by Jim Turley. Afterwards all who wish to attend will proceed to the Walker-Estep Cemetery in Ridgeview, WV to commence her body to the soil beside of her beloved late husband.
